through some of the
Umatilla county parks
or other nearby
state parks.
The
Hermiston Aquatic Center
offers
fee-based public swimming as well as lessons, lap swimming,
water aerobics, private functions, and more.

Take some time to experience some of the area's
local theater or symphony productions. The
Desert Arts Council
presents a number of events
each year ranging from music, to theatre, to dance. For a
taste of the symphony...look into the
Oregon East Symphony's
concert season.
In addition to all that Hermiston has to offer within its own
boundaries, it's centrally located to allow you to experience a
variety of adventures in the surrounding communities.
Take some time to tour a number of nearby
Wineries that offer tastings, wine
sales, gifts, and special events in a variety of environments
from historic homes, to renovated school houses, to modern-day
tasting rooms.
Perhaps, instead, if you'd rather try your luck at one of the
nearby casinos...you might visit the Wildhorse
Resort & Casino in nearby Pendleton.
For something more educational... visit some of the area's
cultural & historic sights for a view of
the area's past and present.

The Pendleton Underground Tours, The Tamastslikt Cultural center, the McNary Dam, and numerous
Lewis & Clark
sites, all offer a chance to look into the
history and culture of the Northwest and they're all only a short
drive from Hermiston.
Looking for a day at the mall...visit nearby Tri-cities, WA and
the Columbia Center Mall for a change of venue in shopping and
dining.
Other options?...Take a trip for the day to the nearby Blue
Mountain State Forest which lies along the old Oregon Trail
Highway (less than an hour away). Perhaps you'll
decide to take a jaunt up to Leavenworth,
Washington to experience the charm of a Bavarian Village, sit in
an outdoor beir garten, or try a lunch of bratwurst with
champagne mustard.
